BLISTER CARDS
Blister cards are printed flat chipboard cards provided with a seal friendly coating to allow heat
sealing the card to a thermoformed or vacuumed formed blister / tray.
Materials used are SBS card stock printed with an aqueous coating in up to eight colors up.
A single side or both sides of the Blister card can be printed with colors or black and white
text or artwork. Two colors, four color and black and white are the most common choices
made when economics are a major consideration. The inks chosen usually have a very good
ultraviolet additive, which delays any fading when exposed to direct sunlight.
Extra ultra violet additives or inks can be purchased if direct sunlight or Ultraviolet exposure is
expected. Different paperweights or thick nesses are available. Variances in Blister card
thickness are usually chosen depending on need. Thinner cards are usually chosen where a card
is being used mostly as advertisement or instructions as a drop in insert in a clamshell or on a
blister where the product being contained is very light weight. Heavy weight cards are used
for either large spans across the blister or a when a heavy component is being contained.
Where a part in a Blister is extremely heavy a double layer card can be manufactured from
two of the heaviest weight card stock available. Point thicknesses are available form 4 point
like typical light weight copy paper up to 40 point or even double 40 point. A point is
equal to .001” (one thousandth of an inch) or 40 point is approximately to 1mm in thickness. |
